I have a lot going on right now, so I figured I’d put everything together in one update.
I’m still trying to figure out this roof.
This month, I started looking for roofers who can finish the job I started. As it currently stands, I have two quotes, and I should have a third one either later today or within the next couple of days.
The third quote is actually coming from a company connected to one of my old tenants. They’re going out to look at the roof and give me a price on what it would cost to finish what I already started.
Based on the quotes I’ve received so far, I’m expecting to come out of pocket at least $10,000 to get this roof finished.
That’s gonna hurt.
I also need to lower the expenses on that house.
The roof isn’t the only problem with this property. The bills have gotten ridiculous.
Right now:
- Internet is almost $100 a month
- Electricity is around $321 a month
- The water bill has also gone up
- Insurance is another expense I’m trying to lower
The electric bill used to be around $160 a month, so I don’t know how we ended up at $321.
There isn’t much I can control right now, but the internet and insurance are two expenses I can actually do something about. If I can get the internet down to around $60 a month and then lower the insurance premium once the roof is finished, that should at least help.
Once again, I’m doing too much.
I know I’ve said this a lot this year, and somehow here I am saying it again.
I keep trying to work on everything at the same time. Part of the problem is that when I’m not doing everything I want to do, I feel like I’m failing. That’s obviously not working because I’m one person and there’s only so much I can do.
So I’m trying to change how I look at it.
I need to figure out what absolutely has to get done every day and make sure I do those things. Once that’s done, whatever time I have left can go toward one specific project.
Not five projects. One.
Right now, the rental properties are taking up most of my time.
I haven’t really been listing much on eBay, and I haven’t been going out sourcing either. Most of the inventory I’m buying is stuff I can source directly from home through eBay and other websites.
Eventually, I want to be more active with sourcing. I’d like to go to garage sales and try some other ways of finding inventory, but that takes even more time.
For now, what I’m already doing is making money, so I’m going to keep doing it.
With whatever time I have left, I’ve been working on some Etsy ideas that I want to get listed. I want to finish those first and see what happens with them.
After that, I can go back and put more time into scaling eBay.
One thing at a time.
There’s so much I want to do, and I’m really just one person.
Man, this shit really sucks.
