At the beginning of the year, I set a few financial goals that I wanted to hit by the end of 2026.
Here’s what I’m working toward:
- 401(k): $100,000
- Robinhood: $50,000
- Roth IRA: $40,000
- Savings: $25,000
- Student loans: Get the balance down to $5,000
I already hit my 401(k) goal.
My 401(k) officially crossed $100,000 earlier last month (I think), so I can check that one off the list.
My savings is a different story. I’ve been slipping below the $25,000 mark, and that’s probably going to get worse before it gets better. I still have to finish the roof on the rental property, which is going to cost me a lot of money. There’s also a good chance I’ll end up kicking one of the tenants out in the not couple of days, so I need to be prepared for whatever that ends up costing me.
My Roth IRA is getting close.
I’m not at $40,000 yet, but I only have around $1,500 left to contribute before I max it out for the year. Assuming the market goes up another 2% or so before the end of the year, I should have a decent shot at reaching $40,000.
I still have Robinhood and my student loans to work on as well.
All of these numbers are connected to the bigger financial goal I’ve been working toward. I want to buy my family home in 2028, and hitting these milestones in 2026 will put me one big step closer to being able to do that.
