<\/figure>\n\n\n\nWhat they did find, though, was a spot on the ceiling in one of the bathrooms that they had been watching. They thought it might have been caused by construction happening in the unit above them since it’s been under renovation for the past few weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next day, the property manager had a plumber inspect both units. Fortunately, they determined that my condo wasn’t the source of the leak downstairs. That’s obviously good news for me. The bad news is that there’s still a leak somewhere in the building, and as far as I know, they’re still trying to figure out where it’s coming from. I haven’t heard anything since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I do want to go back and inspect that spot my tenants pointed out. The plumber didn’t think the bubbling in the ceiling was caused by a leak, but I still want to verify it myself. I remember that bathroom getting pretty humid when I lived there, so there’s a chance it’s just moisture buildup. I have a moisture meter, so I’ll check it myself and make sure there isn’t water hiding behind the drywall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The biggest win this week was finally finishing the app I’ve been building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I think I’m on version 17 now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I’ve been working on it for a little over a month, and there were a couple of points where I had to completely tear parts of it apart just to fix some major issues. Honestly, there was one point where I regretted doing it because I wasn’t sure I was going to get everything working again. It felt like I was doing surgery on my own project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But it all came back together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Right now it’s working the way I originally wanted it to. Next week will be the real test because that’s when I’ll start using it to bulk upload listings to eBay. It seems like every time I’m about to start using it at full capacity, I find another bug that sends me back into development. Hopefully that’s behind me now, but if it isn’t, that’s just part of building software. Every bug I fix makes the app a little better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The other major project I finished was the roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That one wore me out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I’m burnt. My skin is still burning from being out in the sun, and my whole body is sore, but we got it done. That’s been hanging over my head for a while, so it feels good to finally cross it off the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There’s still some cleanup left. I want to touch up the perimeter to make sure everything is sealed the way it should be, and I also want to repaint parts of the roof because we ended up getting the house dirtier than I would’ve liked. That’s mostly cosmetic work, so I’m not worried about it. I’ll probably knock that out sometime in July before I leave for vacation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Looking back, I honestly wasn’t sure I was going to finish both the roof and the app this week. Either one of those projects would’ve been enough by itself, so getting both across the finish line feels good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The one thing I didn’t accomplish was listing 25 items on eBay using the new app. I’m perfectly okay with that. The app ended up needing much bigger updates than I expected, and getting those finished was more important than rushing into production. Now that the major work is behind me, next week I’ll start putting it through its paces and see how it performs with bulk uploads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Overall, I’m really happy with how the week turned out. I finished the projects that mattered most, solved a few unexpected problems along the way, and now I get to spend next week finding out whether all the work I put into this app actually pays off.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Today is Saturday, which means the week is officially over.
