Instead, I spent most of my nights working on the AI agent I’m building to help automate the listing process. At the same time, I received a decent amount of inventory, which has completely transformed my garage into a mess. Things aren’t flowing as smoothly as I’m used to, but that’s usually what happens when inventory starts piling up faster than it can be processed.

One bright spot has been Etsy. I think I received around 15 orders this past week alone. The good news is that demand has been strong. The bad news is that I’m starting to run out of inventory. Right now, demand is actually higher than what I can comfortably supply with my limited amount of free time. At some point next week, I’m going to need to dedicate an entire day to producing a large batch of products. Ideally, I’d like to create enough inventory to last at least a month before I have to think about it again.

I had originally expected my automated listing agent to be finished by now, but like most things in business, the project ended up being more complicated than I anticipated. I’ve probably changed my approach three or four times already. Every time I think I have the solution figured out, I run into a limitation or discover that something can’t be done the way I originally envisioned it. As a result, the final product keeps evolving. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though. Each obstacle has forced me to think through the process more carefully. I still expect to have it finished next week because I have several other infrastructure projects waiting behind it.

Part of the reason I’m pushing so hard is because I’ve invested in a number of software tools and subscriptions. If I’m paying for them, I want to make sure I’m using every credit available to me each month. Otherwise, I’m just leaving money on the table.

Outside of business, I managed to hurt my back on Monday. That forced me to take another break from basketball and working out. Unfortunately, I had already spent the previous two weeks trying to recover from a lingering hip issue and sore knees. The knees feel more like overuse, but my left hip continues to bother me quite a bit. It’s frustrating because one of my goals this year is to dunk a basketball again.

The more I think about it, the more I suspect some of these issues are related to my weight. I started the week at around 198 pounds and this morning I weighed in at 195.6. My goal is to get back down to around 180 pounds. Ideally, I’d like to cut all the way down to about 175 and then slowly build myself back up to 185 while maintaining better conditioning. I also recently agreed to participate in a 5K this October, so dropping weight has become even more important. Hopefully getting lighter will help with the aches and pains and give me a realistic shot at throwing down my first dunk in seven years.

Real estate also demanded some attention this week. One of my tenants called because the thermostat had stopped working. After looking into it, I discovered that the AC drain line had clogged again, which seems to happen fairly often at this particular property. My AC technician was tied up with other work, so I handled it myself. I spent one day diagnosing the issue and another day fixing it. The system is running again, and when my AC guy gets some free time, he’ll stop by to perform some preventative maintenance to hopefully reduce the chances of it happening again.

Other than that, that’s pretty much the week. Progress was made on several fronts, even if some of it happened behind the scenes. The eBay automation project continues to move forward, Etsy continues to surprise me, and now the focus shifts to finishing the agent, building inventory, and getting my body healthy enough to get back on the basketball court.

This week was a productive one.
