Day 8
Goal: to finish painting all the rooms and add wood filler to the exterior of the house
What actually happened:
- I painted all the rooms and one of the bathrooms
- Mom and brother helped get half of the leaves in the yard and put them out on the curb.
- Cleaned out the garage
I’ll say that I was satisfied with the Monday. I did not get a chance to seal the exterior but I’ll end up doing that later in the week. I might still need to hit some of the walls with another coat of paint. Since I’m running out, I’ll need to run to Home Depot to buy another 5 gallon.
Hours worked: 6.5
Total hours worked on house: 53
Day 10
Goals:
- Sand exterior wood that was sealed
- Buy baseboards and add them to kitchen
- Add trim to kitchen door
- Paint bathrooms
What I did:
- I finished painting the bathrooms, kitchen, and touched up all the walls with the paint brush to make sure I got all the corners.
- Finished clearing the backyard
I got to the house later than I had wanted to. I overslept a bit since I wanted to be better rested and I did not go to bed until about 1:30 am last night.
I was hoping to have sealed the exterior but it started raining so I just worked in the inside of the house.
Hours worked: 7 hours
Total hours worked: 60 hours
I think the house is looking good. I still have quite a a bit to do. I’m hoping to have everything completed by Friday. Even if it’s not complete, I’d like to have it good enough to be up on the market. I’m hopeful that come Friday I can be finished. I’d like to celebrate my mom’s birthday instead of working all day again.
My expenses have also gone up though.
Total expenses so Far: $1425.58
Day 11
Today is Thursday. I did not go to the house on Wednesday (yesterday) to work because my meeting at work ended up taking 3 hours of my day instead of the usual 1 to 2. By the time I left work it was 6 pm. Today I also had a couple meetings at work, but I was finished with them by about 4 pm.
I don’t remember what the goals were for today, but my stepdad and I finished putting the fence up. Which is great! we also went to honed depot to return a few things and buy the trim that’s going to be put up around the new sliding door. We also bought more paint for the house and black paint that is going to be used to paint the sliding glass door.
Hours worked: 3 hours
Total hours worked: 63 hours
Day 12
Today is Friday and I’m off work. I got to the house at a decent time, and my mom came around 3 in the afternoon to help me out for a couple of hours. She cleaned more of the cabinets, mainly the inside.
Here are a list of things that were accomplished.
- Painted baseboards in house
- Wood filling, caulking, and paint sealant of exterior front of the house
- Changed an outlet that was old; blew up on me while i was pulling the wire out. Not fun. It looks like that wall is connected to the living room wall so when I turned the power off, that wall stayed on. Not fun
- Put new black wall plates around all the light switches and plugs.
- Had to go to Home Depot to buy more because I did not have enough
- Finished painting other bathroom.
- Touched up the rest of the living room and bedroom walls. Still need to touch them up a little more.
- Sanded bedroom wall that had large holes that I sealed
- Painted stain spots on the kitchen ceiling that were a result of years of cooking.
- Put up strip of drywall in the kitchen, now I just need to add a new coat tomorrow.
Hours worked: 9 hours
Total hours worked: 72 hours
