Hi,
My name is… My name is.. My name is Eddy Cespedes! I am writing this for my future self as a way to record my journey from 0 to a million-dollar net worth. I had wanted to take on this project a couple few years back when my net worth was really at 0, but it seemed like time was always thin. To this day, time is still thin and the problems continue to stack up. However, if I don’t start now then I probably never will.
This blog is really supposed to be something therapeutic. I’m hoping to use this as a way to not just document my journey, but also organize my thoughts and work through problems that I encounter throughout life. If you talk to yourself you are likely to find solutions to your problems, so I guess you can look at this as a way to do just that.
A Quick Summary of My Background
At the time of this writing, I am 30 years old. My mom and I migrated from Cuba to the United States when I was 6 years old. I played basketball competitively from middle school to high school but stopped there since I wasn’t getting any offers to play college on a full scholarship. Ultimately, I went to a community college and transferred to the University of Central Florida thereafter, where I graduated with my bachelor’s in Anthropology.
After I graduated I ended up working part-time at a local funeral home for a couple of years. I made some calculations and came to the conclusion that on educational costs per pay ratio, It would be more beneficial to go back to school for mortuary science than to go to graduate school for anthropology. The problem I have now is that even though working in the funeral industry makes more financial sense, there still isn’t a lot of money in death care. So while I’m a last responder by day, I try to be a hustler by night. And by hustler, I mean go-getter, not the degenerate kind.
I met most of my goals for the first week of 2024. They included getting organized and caught up with most of my job assignments, starting this blog, and paying some bills that I have been behind on. To clarify, I’m behind because I have been working 60 to 70 hours a week these past few months and I keep forgetting the due dates, not because of any financial problems right now. My only financial problem is that I’m not rich yet, and I let my 18-year-old self down when he said that he would have the means to retire by 30. In the snap of a finger 30 is here, and retirement is far from possible.
Upcoming
In the next few weeks, I plan on getting into more details about where I’m currently at in my goal, how I got here, and how I plan on getting to the next place I’m trying to go.
