This week has been crazy and stressful.
I realized, again, that I’m stretching myself too thin. I’ve been trying to work on several goals at the same time because I thought some of them could be done alongside each other. Apparently, that’s not working.
I thought I could focus on my physical health while still working on my business, content, and real estate goals. Real estate only requires me to spend about two days a week working on the properties. For my fitness goals, I really just need to count my calories throughout the day and get to the gym often enough to lose weight and get back in shape. In my head, I should have been able to do all of this at the same time.
Instead, I feel like I’m not making enough progress in anything.
I need to focus on one thing at a time.
I know I’ve said this before. I’ve probably been saying it throughout all of 2026, and for some reason, I still haven’t gotten it through my head.
If I want 33 to be the best year of my life, I’m going to have to really lock in and stop trying to do everything at once.
Right now, I’m focusing on my physical health. I signed up for a 5K on October 4th, and I’m definitely not in shape to run it right now, so I have to start training.
When I got back from my cruise two weeks ago, I weighed 208 pounds. As of this morning, I’m down to 198.4. That’s almost 10 pounds in two weeks.
For now, if I hit my fitness goals for the day, I can consider that a successful day. I’m still going to handle everything else that needs my attention, but getting back in shape is what I’m focusing on right now.
Work hasn’t been very fun either.
I have some equipment at work that’s failing, and we’re trying to get people out there to fix it. That’s been stressful by itself.
I’ve also discovered some things about one of my employees that are bothering me, and now I have to figure out how I’m going to deal with that.
Basically, work isn’t very fun right now, but I have to take care of it.
Then there’s the roof.
This is probably the biggest issue I have right now.
The roof project that my friend and I worked on has already cost me more than $4,000, and now it looks like the entire thing is no good.
I found a roofer who happens to be my tenant’s brother. Apparently, I had someone who could help me with this problem the entire time and I just needed to ask.
Originally, he was supposed to repair the sections of the roof that weren’t done correctly. Once he got up there, though, he found water underneath the membrane. We’ve had some pretty heavy rain lately, and now the membrane has lifted up.
The whole roof has to be redone.
That’s not fun.
The good news is that I finally have a roofer. The bad news is that I wasted more than $4,000 and a lot of my time doing this project.
Hopefully, once he finishes the roof, it’ll finally be done correctly. If it is, I should also be able to lower the insurance premium on that house because right now that premium is stupid high.
This might also affect my plans for 2028.
Spending more money on this property is going to make it underperform even more. I’m worried that could eventually affect my loan qualifications, or at least how much I’ll be able to qualify for when I try to buy my family home in 2028.
The plan was to buy the family home in 2028, spend the next couple of years recouping the money, and then go all in on real estate in 2030.
I don’t know yet how much this roof is going to change those plans. First, I need to get the roof fixed and see what this is actually going to cost me.
