This week was technically a vacation, but it didn’t feel like one. I used the time to catch up on things that had been piling up, both at home and in the business.
Around the house, I focused on cleaning things up and getting a few projects done that had been sitting for a while. Fixing small issues, helping with decorating, and just getting things to a better baseline. Nothing major, but necessary.
There were also a few life maintenance tasks that needed attention. I took my personal car in for an oil change, and had to bring the business vehicle back to the mechanic since it is still having issues. It turns out that the car is burning oil and there was virtually zero oil left in the engine by the time I got to him. I also made time for a haircut. Again, nothing big individually, but all things that had been overdue.
On the business side, there were a couple of wins. I landed a brand deal where I was sent a display case with built in lighting. I created product videos for the seller and was able to keep the product. I ended up replacing one of my older stands with it, and then sold the old stand on Facebook Marketplace the next day.
That situation reminded me of something important. I have been too focused on everything else and have not been paying enough attention to Instagram. That is where brands consistently reach out to me. It is something I need to get back to being active on.
One of the bigger personal wins this week came from something small. I kept the old washer from the Apopka rental instead of throwing it out. The idea was to try fixing it and reselling it. It took two attempts, but I got it working perfectly.
I listed it on Marketplace for $150. After a few hours, I dropped the price because I needed the space in the garage. It ended up selling for $120 within a day.
That small project opened up an idea that I had been wanting to try out for about 2 years now. I want to start incorporating appliance repair and resale into the business. Nothing large scale right now. Just one unit at a time. Learn the process, get comfortable, and build it into something repeatable.
The main constraint right now is space and organization. Once I get the garage more structured, I plan to dedicate a specific area for appliances and work through them one by one.
Eventually, if this grows, I may need storage. I do not like the idea of paying for storage space right now unless it directly ties into something bigger, like acquiring another property that can support the business. That is the long term goal once things scale.
Overall, this week was not about rest. It was about catching up, tightening things up, and creating small momentum in areas that had been neglected.
